Mini-Mite, Mite and Squirt Learn to Ice Hockey Skate and Ice Hockey Prep 2011-2012

Program Cost (2011-2012)
$110.00 - Registration Fee - for enrollment and instruction (Must supply own equipment).
    $4.00 - Park Registration Fee. ($14 if first time registrant. $10 additional for photo ID).

Program Description
The Mini-Mite and Mite Youth Ice Hockey Prep Program provides the opportunity for children 5 to 10 years to learn how to hockey skate and handle a hockey puck. This is a developmental learn-to-hockey skate and basic skills hockey program. The sessions focus on basic skills and techniques of hockey skating and puck handling. Coaches will use specific and progressive skating drills and techniques to support and develop proper skating techniques, puck handling, passing and shooting.

Mini-mites and older youth will be asked to participate in the Riverbank Youth Ice Hockey Program divisions of Mite and Squirt during the season when they develop their skill and ability that will allow them participate in light travel play vs. outside teams. Mini-Mite and Mite Youth Hockey Prep Program participants can also try out for the Mite and Squirt teams. If admitted to the teams, all players 7 and older must register with USA Hockey and pay a $33 registration fee. The fee provides ice insurance, permission to play games, and a subscription to the USA Hockey Magazine. Players 6 years old and under can register for free.

Program Duration
The Mini Mites and Mite Learn to Ice Hockey Skate and Ice Hockey Prep begins November 5, 2011 and closes March 17, 2012. The program lasts approximately 18 weeks.

Practice Sessions

5 AND 6 YEAR OLDS - Practice sessions for 5 and 6 year olds are held on Saturday, (except for holidays, special ice events, weather, etc.) at 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Each practice session is for 1 hour and is held at the Riverbank Skating Rink.

7 AND 8 YEAR OLDS - Practice sessions for 7 and 8 year olds are held on Saturday, (except for holidays, special ice events, weather, etc.) at 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Each practice session is for 1 hour and is held at the Riverbank Skating Rink.

9 AND 10 YEAR OLDS - Practice sessions for 9 and 10 year olds are held on Saturday, (except for holidays, special ice events, weather, etc.) at 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Each practice session is for 1 hour and is held at the Riverbank Skating Rink.

Program Requirements
1. Children with no experience are welcome and do very well in this program. Beginning skaters able to stand on their in own in full hockey gear, glide on their skates, are able to get up on their own and who can skate a little are also welcome.

2. All players participating in the Mini Mites Learn to Ice Hockey Skate and Ice Hockey Prep Program MUST be fully equipped at each practice session or game before they step onto the ice. The following equipment is required to be worn by each player in the program and must be put on and worn properly: shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin guards, hockey socks and garter, skates, hockey jersey, and properly fitted HECC certified hockey helmet with face shield, hockey gloves, and hockey stick. Loan equipment is available on a first come, first serve basis. Mouthpieces and neck guards are also recommended.

3. All players must be on time for practice. All players must respect the coaches, each other, and behave in a sportsmanlike manner at all times.

17 sessions for $114.00 equals $6.71 per session!
